Sotiris Kovos was born in Athens and grew up in Ilion. He graduated from the Department of Sociology of the Panteion University, and then studied at the Royal College of Art (RCA) in London with a scholarship from Mazda. He first worked at the Toyota-Lexus European Design Center, and then at Audi as an external designer. His first design for mass production was the Toyota Yaris, which was declared “Car of the Year 2000” in Europe and Japan, and won many other awards. Sotiris also designed the luxury Lexus SC430, as well as a range of other cars, mainly for Toyota-Lexus. He also designed the whole range of electric cars, buses and trams for the French company Ballore. His design office “KOVOS DESIGN” has designed scooters for Greek Nipponia, as well as other products such as racing cars, boats, bicycles, and furniture.
