Ο Σταύρος Γασπαράτος έρχεται στη σκηνή του επετειακού TEDxPatras 2025 για να φωτίσει τη σχέση μεταξύ τέχνης και τεχνολογίας. Με οδηγό το νέο του έργο, Expanded Piano II, θα εξερευνήσει τη συνάντηση του ήχου με την καινοτομία, αποκαλύπτοντας πώς οι παραδοσιακές μέθοδοι σύνθεσης και εκτέλεσης μεταμορφώνονται μέσα από τα σύγχρονα τεχνολογικά εργαλεία.

Μέσα από τον προβληματισμό του, θα αναδείξει τη σημασία της ζωντανής μουσικής εμπειρίας σε έναν κόσμο όπου τα νέα μουσικά είδη αξιοποιούν την τεχνολογία, σε μια προσπάθεια διατήρησης της αμεσότητας και την αυθεντικότητάς τους. Στην ομιλία του, θα μοιραστεί τους προβληματισμούς και την έρευνά του για το μέλλον της μουσικής δημιουργίας, προσφέροντας ένα ζωντανό απόσπασμα 4 λεπτών από το έργο του.

Λίγα λόγια για τον ομιλητή

Ο Σταύρος Γασπαράτος είναι συνθέτης, sound artist και επιμελητής (curator), με έργο που εκτείνεται στη σύγχρονη μουσική, τα mixed media projects και τις εφαρμογές ήχου στις παραστατικές τέχνες. Συνθέτει μουσική για το θέατρο, τον κινηματογράφο και τον χορό, ενώ από το 2022 είναι σύμβουλος σύγχρονης μουσικής και mixed media projects στο Φεστιβάλ Αθηνών και Επιδαύρου, καθώς και ιδρυτής του Subset Festival.

Έχει συνθέσει μουσική για περισσότερες από 200 παραγωγές, συνεργαζόμενος με κορυφαίους Έλληνες και διεθνείς δημιουργούς και φορείς, όπως το Εθνικό Θέατρο, η Στέγη Ιδρύματος Ωνάση, το Φεστιβάλ Αθηνών, η Εθνική Λυρική Σκηνή, το BAM – Νέα Υόρκη, η Dallas Opera, η Documenta14 – Kassel, το The Watermill Center – NY και το Pulitzer Arts Foundation – St. Louis. Μεταξύ 2017-2020 διηύθυνε το Transmedia Lab της Εθνικής Λυρικής Σκηνής και από το 2019 έως το 2022 ήταν μέλος του Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου του Φεστιβάλ Αθηνών.

Ανάμεσα στα έργα του ξεχωρίζουν το Expanded Piano I & II, η μουσική για την αποκάλυψη του νέου φωτισμού της Ακρόπολης (2020), η μουσική για τα εγκαίνια του Νέου Μουσείου Ακρόπολης (2009), καθώς και το Rules of the Game (2016), σε συνεργασία με τον Jonah Bokaer και την Dallas Opera. Έχει παρουσιάσει μουσικά έργα και performances σε σημαντικούς χώρους και φεστιβάλ σε Ευρώπη, Αμερική και Ασία, ενώ η πρωτότυπη μουσική του έχει διακριθεί με βραβεία από την Ελληνική Ακαδημία Κινηματογράφου (2013), το Φεστιβάλ Δράμας (2017) και την Ένωση Ελλήνων Θεατρικών και Μουσικών Κριτικών (2009).

To what extent does technology shape art, particularly music? Is it merely a medium or a creative force that leads to new artistic paths?

Stavros Gasparatos will speak onstage at the TEDxPatras 2025 anniversary event to shed light on the relationship between art and technology. Guided by his latest project, Expanded Piano II, he will explore the intersection of sound and innovation, revealing how traditional composition and performance methods are being transformed through modern technological tools.

Through his reflection, he will highlight the importance of the live musical experience in a world where new musical genres utilize technology to maintain their immediacy and authenticity. In his talk, he will share his thoughts and research on the future of music production, offering a live 4-minute piece from his work.

About the speaker

Stavros Gasparatos is a composer, sound artist, and curator whose work spans contemporary music, mixed media projects, and sound applications in the performing arts. He composes music for theatre, cinema, and dance, and since 2022, he has served as a consultant for contemporary music and mixed media projects at the Athens and Epidaurus Festival and is the founder of Subset Festival.

He has composed music for over 200 productions, working with renowned Greek and international artists and institutions, including the National Theatre, Onassis Cultural Centre, Athens Festival, National Opera, BAM—New York, Dallas Opera, Documenta14 – Kassel, The Watermill Center – NY and the Pulitzer Arts Foundation—St. Louis. From 2017 to 2020 he directed the Transmedia Lab of the Greek National Opera; from 2019 to 2022 he was a member of the Board of Directors of the Athens Festival.

His works include Expanded Piano I & II, music for the unveiling of the new Acropolis illumination (2020), music for the opening of the New Acropolis Museum (2009), and Rules of the Game (2016), in collaboration with Jonah Bokaer and Dallas Opera. He has presented musical works and performances in major venues and festivals in Europe, America, and Asia, and his original music has received awards from the Greek Film Academy (2013), the Drama Festival (2017), and the Greek Theatre and Music Critics Association (2009).
