Aπό τη σκηνή του Royal Theater, o Ηλίας Μαμαλάκης θα αναλύσει τις δυνατότητες σύζευξης της Γεωργίας και του Τουρισμού, των δύο πυλώνων της ελληνικής οικονομίας.

Ο Ηλίας γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα. Σπούδασε Οικονομικά και δούλεψε πολλά χρόνια σαν υψηλόβαθμο στέλεχος σε πολυεθνικές εταιρίες. Μετά από αρκετές εμπειρίες ασχολήθηκε με τη γαστρονομία, ενώ έχει γράψει και πολυάριθμα βιβλία με κύριο κορμό πάντα τη μαγειρική και την ευζωία. Ασχολείται με το design προϊόντων σε βιομηχανίες τροφίμων, έχει διατελέσει σύμβουλος γεύσης στα τυροκομεία Κρήτης και παλαιότερα επιμελείτο το μενού πολλών διακεκριμένων εστιατορίων. Για τρία χρόνια ήταν ο κεντρικός παρουσιαστής της εκπομπής “Στην Κουζίνα Ολοταχώς” στο Mega Channel, ενώ επί πέντε συνεχή χρόνια παρουσίαζε το τηλεοπτικό οδοιπορικό με τίτλο “Μπουκιά και Συχώριο” σε όλα τα μέρη της Ελλάδας και του εξωτερικού, με θέμα τη γεύση και τον πολιτισμό. Τον Ιανουάριο του 2006, και έχοντας αποσπάσει σειρά βραβείων στην Ελλάδα, η σειρά βραβεύτηκε στο Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ του Gourmet Voice στις Κάννες, σαν το καλύτερο τηλεοπτικό πρόγραμμα σε σειρά. Το 2007, ο ίδιος βραβεύτηκε σαν το πιο δημοφιλές πρόσωπο της Ελληνικής τηλεόρασης. Έχει βραβευθεί και από την Unesco και το κράτος του Περού για την καλύτερη συνταγή πατάτας στο διαγωνισμό που έγινε το 2008. Από το 2007 διατελεί διευθυντής έκδοσης του BBC Olive, στην ελληνική έκδοσή του, του ένθετου μαγειρικής του Ελεύθερου Τύπου με τίτλο «Κουζίνα», καθώς και του ένθετου μαγειρικής στον Κόσμο του Επενδυτή με τίτλο “Λιχουδιές”. Είναι μέλος του οργανισμού Slow Food, της Ένωσης Δημοσιογράφων Οίνου και της Γαλλικής Ακαδημίας Γαστρονομίας, καθώς και σύμβουλος στη βιομηχανία τροφίμων σε θέματα γεύσης.

Η ομιλία του θα πυροδοτήσει ένα διάλογο γύρω από τις ενδεχόμενες επαγγελματικές ευκαιρίες και αναπτυξιακές δυνατότητες που δύναται να προσφέρει ο συγκερασμός Γεωργίας και Τουρισμού.

On the stage of the Royal Theater, Elias Mamalakis will analyze how Agriculture and Tourism, the two cornerstones of the Greek economy, could be bridged.

Elias was born in Athens. He studied economics and worked as a successful corporate manager for a number of years. In his mid-forties, Elias decided that it was time to pursue his passion for cooking on a professional level. This decision would ultimately establish him as one of Greece’s most popular TV and media personalities. To date, Elias has authored several books on cooking and his signature “bon viveur” credo. He is a contributor to various publications (the Greek editions of “Elle” and “Gourmet”, specialized gastronomy magazines and daily newspapers), and the editor of the Greek culinary edition of “DeAgostini”. In April 2007, he became the editor in chief of “Olive” magazine’s Greek edition. He has also designed products for leading food corporations. For three years, Elias hosted the “Stin Kouzina Olotachos” (“Race to the Kitchen”) television game show on Mega Channel, while for four years, he had been hosting Mega Channel’s “Boukia kai Sychorio” (“So Delicious”). The show can best be described as a virtual tour through Greece and Europe that focuses on local cuisine and culture. “Boukia kai Sychorio”, amongst its numerous national and international distinctions, was voted “TV Programme of the Year 2006” at the Gourmet Voice International Festival in Cannes, France. In 2007, after a nationwide vote by the leading lifestyle magazine in Greece, Elias was awarded the most popular TV persona in Greece. Last but not least, he is a member of several prestigious Greek and international culinary bodies [Slow Food, the International Wine Federation (F.I.J.E.V)) and the Academie Internationale de la Gastronomie].

Elias’ speech will provoke a dialogue on potential professional opportunities as well as developmental possibilities the combination of Agriculture and Tourism might offer.
